I. Master Fisherman

Ready to head on your path to becoming a Master Fisherman?

Head to Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh, and seek out the Master Fisherman, Juno Dufrain near the Umbrafen Lake. Purchase from him the lore of extreme anglers: Master Fishing - The Art of Angling.

Now, you're ready for the grind.

II. Number Factoids

Based on my time spent leveling up my fishing skill, these are some raw numbers of skill/catch I came up with.

--- 300/375 -> 330/375 averages out to around 8 or so catches per skill point gained.
--- 330/375 -> 355/375 averages out to around 10 or so catches per skill point gained.
--- 355/375 -> 375/375 averages out to around 12 or so catches per skill point gained.

Furious Crawdad (Found in: Terokkar Forest [Highland Mixed Schools only])
--- Recipe Makes: Spicy Crawdad
--- Recipe Buffs: +30 Stamina, +20 Spirit

Highland Mixed Schools:
Furious Crawdad are caught from pools called "Highland Mixed School". These pools are found in three elevated lakes in Terokkar Forest, Outland:

1. Blackwind Lake (near Skettis) - 10 confirmed pool spawning locations (2 on the western side of the island in the lake, 8 around the edge of the lake).
2. Lake Ere'Noru (above Allerian Stronghold) - 4 confirmed pool spawning locations.
3. Lake Jorune (above Stonebreaker Hold) - 3 confirmed pool spawning locations.

The locations of the pools are shown by yellow pins on the map, right. It is possible that other pool locations exist. Due to the way they spawn, most of the time lakes with a small number of pools will appear to have no pools.

All three lakes require a flying mount to reach. All three have a base fishing skill requirement of 430 to cast a line, and fish will "get away" if your skill is less than 525. The surrounding areas have a base fishing skill below 375, probably 355. There is one pool next to the island in Blackwind Lake which is located in "Skettis", so is much easier to fish. ((This is probably not intended.))
The open water in these areas (tentatively) contains the same fish as other parts of Terokkar Forest - Barbed Gill Trout, Golden Darter and Spotted Feltail. The only reason to fish in the area is to fish the Highland Mixed Schools.

Goldenscale Vendorfish
--- Rare, random, open-water fish that you can vendor for a quick 6 gold.

In addition to fish, other items are rarely caught from open-water fishing:

* Curious Crate - boxes that contain 2-6 Knothide Leather Scraps, 1-3 Netherweave Cloth, or 1-3 Fel Iron Ore.
* Goldenscale Vendorfish - they sell to vendors for 6 gold.
* Inscribed Scrollcase - these contain 1-3 level 60 scrolls.
* Mote of Water (1-2) - ten motes can be converted to one Primal Water by clicking on the stack. Primal Water cannot be converted back to motes.
* Off-hand fish - Enormous Barbed Gil Trout (sic) and Huge Spotted Feltail.

IV. New Fishing Gear

So, you've gotta catch new fish, well first you gotta get new gear, as the skill to fish some of Nagrand is pretty high!

One new fishing pole has been added to our "Angler's Arsenal" in WoW, and that is Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole, which is a reward for the quest Rather Be Fishin'.

It gives +20 to your fishing skill, as well as a whopping +52 stamina. This is gonna be great for the alliance who can't get the Nat Pagle's +25 pole.
